Things to Do

Naturally, when you think of a winter rental you think of the Holidays! Here are some holiday things to do. Once the holidays are over, the fun doesn't end! Remember, Myrtle Beach is home to over 100 golf courses, 1000's of dining choices and many entertainment shows and of course shopping! Outlet centers, malls, boutiques and many more shopping choices are abundant accross the Grand Strand. Read below for more information on all the fabulous things to do when you spend your winter in Myrtle Beach.

Tree Lightings

If you decide to spend the holiday season in North Myrtle Beach, there are plenty of opportunities for you to get in the spirit. Broadway at the Beach and Barefoot Landing each host a tree lighting ceremony featuring singing and dancing performances by local talent and followed by a stunning fireworks display. These events usually occur in late November or early December.

A unique tradition in Little River is the Christmas Regatta, a parade of boats decorated with lights floating down the Intracoastal Waterway. The Regatta is always held the Saturday after Thanksgiving. The Regatta begins at the Little River Inlet at 5 pm and travels south to Dock Holidays Marina. You do not want to miss out on this fabulous display of Christmas cheer! http://christmasregatta.com/

Another interesting holiday tradition along the Grand Strand is the Festival of Trees at Ripley's Aquarium at Broadway at the Beach. Each Christmas, Ripley's decorates 50 trees – one to represent each state – to celebrate the diversity of the United States. This event is included in the price of admission, so be sure to visit the other aquarium attractions.

To really get in the Christmas spirit, you must visit the Dickens Christmas Show and Festivals. This annual event is held at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center. This art, craft and gift show was inspired by Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol." You will be stunned by the Victorian costumes, delicious food and beautiful crafts. http://www.dickenschristmasshow.com

The City of North Myrtle Beach holds their annual Christmas parade down Main Street. Other local towns, such as Loris, Murrells Inlet, Georgetown, Conway and Surfside Beach, also host a parade to celebrate the holiday season.

Holiday Shows

High quality live entertainment abounds in Myrtle Beach during the holidays. Walk through the Night of a Thousand Candles at Brookgreen Gardens. The sculptures and plant life at Brookgreen Gardens come to life in the evening hours amid the glow of more than 5,500 candles and numerous lights. Celebrate the season with a warm beverage, live entertainment and the company of friends and family. http://www.brookgreen.org/NightsofaThousandCandles.html

A recent addition to the Myrtle Beach holiday scene is Shadrack's Christmas Wonderland at the Myrtle Beach Pelicans Ballpark at TicketReturn.Com Field. You must visit the world's largest drive-through Christmas light and music show. Tickets are purchased from the comfort of your own vehicle. Be sure to visit Santa's Village, where you can have your picture taken with Santa, ride the train around the perimeter of the show, go for a pony or camel ride and interact with animals at the petting zoo. http://shadrackchristmas.com/myrtle-beach/

Carolina Opry Christmas Show

There are also special holiday editions of your favorite live shows. The Carolina Opry Christmas Special, "The Christmas Show of the South," has been a local favorite for 28 years running. This year, new talent will mingle with favorite Opry artists. The decorations, singing and dancing in this show are not to be missed. Dolly Parton's Pirates Voyage show also has a Christmas special, running from November through January. The Crimson and Emerald pirates help Captain Scrooge uncover the true meaning of Christmas as guests are mesmerized by acrobatics, singing, a live nativity scene and a four-course feast. The final award-winning Christmas show in North Myrtle Beach is The South's Grandest Christmas Show at the Alabama Theatre. This musical extravaganza combines traditional Christmas classics and holiday favorites to instill the true meaning of Christmas.

Begin a new tradition this year by celebrating the holidays in Myrtle Beach with a live Christmas show and a month in a fabulous North Myrtle Beach winter rental.

Christmas Shopping

Tanger Outlets is an excellent place to begin your holiday shopping. You will save a bundle compared to shopping at the mall. Find the perfect clothes for your Christmas party, shoes for your grandchildren, and purse for your friend at outlet stores such as Nike, Michael Kors, J. Crew, Adidas, Polo Ralph Lauren and more. Myrtle Beach is home to two Tanger Outlet centers, each with more than 100 shops and a food court.

Coastal Grand is the mall to hit when you are in Myrtle Beach. There are more than 100 shops and restaurants in this expansive shopping center. Department stores such as Belk and JC Penny mixed with trendy boutiques and excellent dining options will tempt you. If you would rather not shop, see a movie at the Carmike Theatre.

The Market Common is home to your favorite shops and the stores that are soon to become your favorite. It will be easy to finish your Christmas shopping at stores such as Anthropologie, Barnes and Noble, and Francesca's Collection. If all that shopping works up an appetite, grab a bite at P.F. Chang's China Bistro or Nacho Hippo. The Market Common is not just a shopping and dining
destination – there are homes for rent and purchase in the area, plus a movie theatre and huge park with a lake.
There's always something going on at The Market Common.

When you want to beat the crowds, visit The Hammock Shops in Pawleys Island. The Hammock Shops Village is a historic park-like setting home to 20 specialty shops and restaurants. Surround yourself in the beauty of mossy oaks, azaleas and camellias. The hammocks and rockers encourage you to slow down and enjoy yourself while on your winter vacation.

Eating - Everyone does this several times a day, right? With so many restaurants, you could pick a different one every single day
and never eat at the same place twice!

Golf - so many courses to choose from, so little time!
